Burgessy is named after the iconic House of Burgess in Virginia, USA – the estate of the Founding Father and first president of the United States of America. The brand name was inspired by our founder’s visit to the estate, where she saw the words, “House of Burgess” splashed across the exhibition hall and immediately thought of the meaning behind the word “burgess”, which refers to an inhabitant of a town who has full rights of citizenship.

At that pivotal moment, our founder visualised how each of us are inhabitants of mother earth, with “full rights of citizenship” to thrive on our planet. “But”, she wondered, “are we really thriving, or are many simply surviving?”

She understood that for more people to thrive and enjoy their “burgess” on planet earth, more research and innovation needs to happen – and more inventions need to come to fruition. A science-based company would need to front this movement, and it had to be based on the principles of “objectivity” and “nobility”.

With this vision, Burgessy was founded.
